My thanksgiving break was good and relaxing. I did a lot of homework over the break and relaxed at home. It was nice to see family I don't see often for thanksgiving. It was fun catching up with family since the summer. There was so much yummy food and dessert to eat. My dad who is an amazing cook made the turkey. My grandma made her hoe made apple pie and it was so yummy. Every time she I eat it, it hits the spot lol. The crust and apples mixed with cinnamon are so tasteful.  There was so much leftovers to take home and eat. We were all exhausted by the end of the day. My teacher parents and I spent the night at her house and I passed out as soon as my head hit the pillow. Overall it was a successful thanksgiving and am so glad I was able to spend time with my family. Next is Christmas and I am so excited, because we are hosting this year. Also my birthday is the 20th which is right before Christmas so I am excited about that.
As this semester is coming to an end; I have started to realize how close I am to becoming a teacher. It is scary to think I have only one more semester of school(student teaching) and then I graduate. I feel like I just moved in to Tower Hall as a freshman in college. I can't believe time went by so fast. I feel a sense of accomplishment when reflecting on how far I have come in college. It has been a stressful and fun time but am excited for the next chapter of my life as a new teacher. It is weird to think this time next year I will have finished my first semester as a new teacher. It is scary but exciting when thinking about my future students.
On Saturday my sister and I decided to have a girls day since we do not hang out as much even though we are roommates. School keeps everything busy so it is hard to hangout with her. We had a really great time shopping at the outlets and going out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse. We then came back to our house and had a movie night and dessert. It was a very relaxing day and I enjoyed being able  to hang out with my sister. The day was filled with laughs, food and shopping!
My parents came up for the day on Saturday for family day for my sister's sorority, Sigma phi Lambda. I was in the sorority for two years but dropped out last fall due to school. I had a nice time seeing them, because I will not see them until I come home for Thanksgiving. My mom has never seen my new house since she was working on move in day. My dad was the only one who could help move me in. She loved my new place and how better it was than the apartment I lived in from last year. It was great catching up with them about my semester since I have not seen them this much this semester. To top it off to a great weekend; I took my ESL certification test last Thursday and it was hard. I got my scores today and relieved to say I passed. I was quite shocked to be honest. All I have left is my ppr test next Thursday. Hopefully I pass that one as well.
I went home for part of the weekend due to a family wedding. It was so nice to be able to spend time with my family and celebrate a new marriage. I was also thrilled to see my dog lilly. She is literally like my baby. I mean she is a shorkie (a shihtzu/yorkie mix) so she is a cute fluffy dog. Right when I get home she automatically grabs her little stuffed animal pig with her mouth and goes straight to my room so I can put her up on my bed. I am the only person in the family who lets her on my bed so she loves it. Anyways, it was fun, but the wedding was outside so it was really hot. I was dying hot  waiting for the ceremony to start. Her dress was so gorgeous when she walked down the aisle. It was a ball gown style but not to puffy to dance and walk in. Ironically the day of the wedding was my parents 28th wedding anniversary. Its amazing to think my parents have been together that long. They are each other's best friend. Overall, it was a great weekend seeing my family and grandp
I saw the movie "Happy Death Day" Sunday night with my friend Laura and my sister Kelsey. It was such a good movie. A part of the plot towards the end was a little confusing, but once I remembered the details throughout the movie it made sense. There were parts of the movie where I literally jumped out of my seat due to the suspense. The movie was very suspenseful which kept me at the edge of my seat the entire time. There were twists and turns throughout the movie which I did not see coming. After the movie I was exhausted due to the suspense and thrill. I felt like I got hit by a car. Usually when I watch thriller/ suspenseful or intense movies I am always exhausted after because my body tenses up during the movie.
This weekend I went to the San Marcos library to get a library card. I checked out two thriller books and am excited to read them. I have not read a book probably in almost two years. The literate life assignment reminded me of my love for writing. In all honesty, Netflix and Hulu have taken over my free time instead of reading. As i was doing the assignment, it made me reflect on all the books I read growing up and wonderful memories I had reading. In my opinion, its hard to find books as an adult, because growing up it was so easy to find books. Since now I am an adult I usually only read thriller and mystery novels. I love this genre, because the story keeps me guessing.
I am so glad I went home this weekend. I was able to catch up with my parents and tell them about my semester so far. My parents took us to dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant, El Tiempo. They have the best fajitas! My mouth waters thinking about it. It was so nice to have this time with my parents and laugh with them. Having to leave home to come back to college is never fun, but even leaving my dog is the hardest thing ever. I know it may sound a little crazy to say, but I'm a little obsessed with her lol! I miss being home, because when I am home I feel like I do not have to think about school. I can kind of put school on pause for a few days to spend time with family. On the way back to San Marcos, I realized going home is become slimmer. I will most likely not being home until Thanksgiving break. That is soo long! I know my parents are coming up a few times to see us which will be nice, but it is still not the same as being at home. Especially next semester. I probably wi
I am going home this weekend and I am so excited. I have not been home in over a month since school started. When I left Cypress (suburb of Houston) to move into my new apartment, the hurricane was fast approaching. this time in my life was scary because  I was in San Marcos while the hurricane was destroying my city and hometown. It was unsettling to see the videos and photos on social media while I was in San Marcos. I was constantly calling my parents to check on updates on our house, neighborhood, and family. I had an emotional breakdown while praying for my house to not be flooded. I know it is materialistic things, but it is still scary knowing your house could flood. Having that thought in my mind of my house being flooded was terrifying, because then I would not have a home to go to. Luckily the water did not reach the front porch and door of my house, so my house was okay. Unfortunately, this was not the cases for others. Numerous families were less fortunate than I was, but s
I am starting to get nervous for my certification tests because I decided to register for all three exams in October. I have been studying since August and still do not feel prepared. It is nerve wracking knowing part of my career is based off passing three huge tests. I am not a great test taker and I hope to do well. My main goal is to pass all three exams on the first attempt; that way  I can get them out of the way before student teaching. In my opinion, there is not really a good time to take these exams since there is student teaching in the spring. I am probably stretching myself thin for taking all three tests this semester, but I want to do the best I can.
On Friday night, my roommates and I went to see the movie "IT". We got there at 9:30 and found out all of the showtimes were sold out for that particular movie. We all decided to purchase tickets for the movie for Saturday. The girl at the ticket booth told us to get there early Saturday night so we could get good seats. The next night we got at the movie theater at 8:00 which was over an hour till the movie started. One of the employees told us to form a line since the previous showing was still going on. We were so happy we were the first ones in line because we were able to get first choice on seats. My friends and I waiting in line which felt like forever anticipating the movie. Once the theater room doors opened I bolted to make sure I got a good seats. Throughout the movie my heart was pounding due to the anticipation. When there were intense scenes I would hide my face in my jacket. Usually in scary movies when there are so many intense scenes I usually start laughing.
